Hawaiian Haystacks --Thats whats for dinner!

This can be done on the stovetop or in the crock pot.

  • Cooked Rice see instructions
  • TOPPINGS of choice (may include celery tomatoes, cheese, red & green peppers, olives, mushrooms, green onion, slivered almonds, pineapple, mandarine orange wedges, coconut, chinese noodles or wontons, etc…)
  • 3 lbs of chicken tenders I use frozen because I love how they cook up so tender in the crock pot
  • enough chicken broth to cover the chicken to cook
  • 1 26 oz can cream of chicken soup or 2 10.5 oz cans
  • 1 10.5 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 -1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet lipton onion soup mix
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Milk if necessary for consistency


  1. Cover chicken with broth in crock pot and slow cook until tender enough to easily shred. After shredded drain liquid leaving about 1 cup in with the shredded chicken, Add remaining ingredients stir and heat on low until ready to serve. If you wont be serving for a while, hold out the mushroom soup and add it closer to serving time to get a thicker consistency. If you want it thinner add some milk.
  2. Cook rice of your choice. Allow a cup or more per serving based on your appetites.
  3. Its time to serve!
  4. Pour chicken gravy over rice and then to each their own on toppings. Thats the fun part! ;)
  5. *If you have leftovers you can make a soup the next eve with most of those ingredients!
