Brownies With a Peppermint Twist!

Do you have any extra candy canes laying around?
What to do with those excess candy canes?!! They go great with these extra chocolaty delightful brownies!

Do you have too many of these?

Are you trying to get in your last sweets before you hit the new years diet?

Do you like quick & easy & yummy?

Do you like BROWNIES?

MmmMmmm Brownies! Well I have just the thing for you! It will get rid of those candy canes that have piled up over the holidays. I made these brownies the other day. They seriously turned out so good that I wanted to share them!

What to do with those excess candy canes?!! They go great with these extra chocolaty delightful brownies!

Triple chocolate brownies with a peppermint twist!

I wish the picture did it more justice. These are so yummy though. The nice thing is, I have kept these in the fridge, which I rarely do with brownies and an occasional small bite sized piece sure hits the spot! So this is how I made them…

I started off with two store bought brownie mixes! Yep. True story.

I made the batter cake-like adding an extra egg per box.

I poured the batter in a 11 x 13 oblong cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray.

I cooked brownies per instructions.

While the Brownies were cooking I…

Prepped the candy canes by crushing them in a baggie with a hammer 🙂 (I set the baggie in a frypan before smashing and it was quick & easy)

Gathered: Mini chocolate chips and dark chocolate peril sprinkles (use whatever might be available)

I Made this chocolate glaze in a saucepan on medium heat:

1/2 cup butter

4 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup cocoa powder

about 1/4 cup milk

Stir on medium heat until smooth ; add milk or powdered sugar as needed to get a thick liquid consistency.

Poke some holes in your pan of brownies with a fork about 5 minutes out of the oven, then,

Pour the glaze and spread over the pan of brownies!

OK, It is already very YUM, but we are about to make these brownies even yummier!!

Sprinkle your candy canes, chocolate chips and sprinkles on to of glaze.

Keep in refrigerator. Cut after they have cooled completely.

TIP:

For some reason these are really good cold! The combination of the brownies, chocolate, and candy canes are so good together!

Yay!

These would also make a fun valentine treat too!

Speaking of valentines… How about this?

I love these brownies to the moon and back! he he he
