A fun and Patriotic way to try J E L L O!
I’m sharing a fun and easy recipe for American Flag Jello Jigglers to add a little patriotic touch to a meal. I have always enjoyed adding extra flair to my meals around a particular holiday and this simple idea can do just that!
I have never really been much of a Jello maker and recently, I have discovered how easy Jello Jigglers are to make. Believe it or not, it took me until I was a grandma to make them! I can’t believe I wasted so many years NOT making Jello Jigglers! My grandson loves them so now I make them often when he comes over. I too find them very yummy!
So this is how my “American Flag Jello Jigglers” came about!
Yep. They are quick, easy, yummy, and will add some “happi” to your meal! This, of course is the PERFECT combination for me so I will be making them again. I think I will try the cream cheese variation that I listed just above #4 on the instructions! YumMmm
With 3 simple ingredients, and an oblong pan, you are on your way!
American Flag Jello Jigglers
First, get a standard 9” X 13” cake pan. I prefer to lightly spray it with pam for easy removal of the set jello, but dipping the pan in warm water also works.
Ingredients:
2 large or 4 small boxes of Red Jello any flavor.
2 ½ cups of boiling water
54 blueberries {a ½ pint will do}
frozen cool whip
I happen to use 1 regular raspberry and 2 small sugar free peach boxes of Jello because that is what I had on hand and it was FABULOUS, so as long as you get a RED color you are ok!
Directions:
Bring your water to a rolling boil and completely dissolve the jello and boiling water in the cake pan. Move directly to a flat surface in the refrigerator. The jello will set in 2-3 hours. When the jello is completely set and firm you can create your flags.
1. Cut the jello into nine rectangular shapes approximately 3” x 4” each. (I trimmed about ¼” off the edges of the jello first to get rid of the round corners. Eat those pieces now 😉 nom nommm)
2. Use a spatula to transfer your “flags” to a platter or individual dishes. If they don’t remove easily, dip the outside bottom of your pan in warm water for a few seconds. that should do the trick!
3. There are many ways you could add the whipped cream but I found this method to work well and anyone can do it. Spoon FROZEN whipped topping into a ziplock bag and pipe the firm whipped topping on each flag like this:
Note: You may use any type of piping method that you prefer. I used the above method to make sure it could be easily done by anyone but a decorator tip might be a neater method. Canned spray topping will melt fast and your flags will flop after 5-10 minutes. Trust me on this! – The firm whipped cream as I suggest is very long lasting.
**Another option for a firmer cream would be to use a cream cheese topping. For this you would mix 4oz softened cream cheese, 8 oz firm cool whip, and 1 TBS powder sugar and pipe from the ziplock bag in the same method mentioned above.
4. Add your blueberries to the top left corner. The whipped cream will keep them in place.
5. EAT as you desire!
6. Then set off a few sparklers… hahah
Of course my grandson “lil Ry guy” LOVED them and he even got a mini lesson on the American Flag in the process.
“Lil Ry Guy” and I hope you will enjoy trying these American Flag Jello Jigglers!
