Well its time for the July 2020 Calendar and a message about tolerance and more! I guess this means 2020 is halfway over and at this moment I’m thinking it can’t go fast enough! Times are definitely challenging right now. I hope you can still find joy this month. It’s possible. Hold your loved ones close and share the love with everyone!
July 2020 Calendar and an important message:
I wanted to share some of my thoughts that I’m currently feeling.
PEACE begins with tolerance, love, and respect for EVERYONE
I think my greatest wish would be for PEACE right now. Having a positive disposition, it kills me to see people being mistreated for their beliefs, opinions, race, politics, religion and more. I witness people stereotyping, and calling names and getting outraged at how someone is living their life. Name calling is one of my biggest pet peeves. I’ve been offended too many times for this and really I don’t offend easily.
So I decided to break this up a bit. Let’s take this word:
tolerance [ tol-er-uhns ]
1. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, beliefs, practices, racial or ethnic origins, etc., differ from one’s own; freedom from bigotry.
2. a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions, beliefs, and practices that differ from one’s own.
This is a really tricky word because there are things we should and we should not tolerate. I think these definitions are perfect. If someone goes against this definition of tolerance, then maybe we shouldn’t tolerate that behavior. Still, I believe we should focus mostly on the good things people do. If we want to bring about change then speak up! But please do it with tolerance.
Love and respect are also super important traits, one of them essential. I was taught from a young age to love everyone and treat them with kindness. No exclusions! I’ve practiced loving those that are even harder to love. It’s amazing what a change can come from it.
Then there is RESPECT. (Aretha says it best.. whenever I think of that word I think of this song) All I’m going to say kind of goes back to tolerance. Please, treat others the way you’d want to be treated!
I know we all can be a little bit better. MY challenge this month is to re read the definition of tolerance and try to be better, pay attention to whats going on around you and try to be the peacemaker instead of the antagonizer. Love more and treat others with the respect that you also deserve! I know I’m in. (high five!)
