Thanksgiving is approaching and its a wonderful time to count our blessings!
Today I am sharing:
Thanksgiving Blessing Mix
Every Thanksgiving I make 3 treats…
1. Plain and simple pumpkin bread.
I love my recipe. It is moist and flavorful. I never follow a recipe exact so here is how I do it: I follow this recipe from allrecipes.com: Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread and just doctor it up a bit with the spices because I love the fall spices. I add a tsp of vanilla, bit more cinnamon and a pinch more of the other spices. It turns out amazing. Yummm!
2. My Layered Pumpkin Cream Pie which I shared HERE!
and…
3. Thanksgiving Blessing Mix
I am looking forward to Thanksgiving, not just for the food {MmmmMmm} but also the opportunity to relax a little, visit with family and friends and maybe catch some football on TV. That is where Thanksgiving Blessing Mix comes into the picture! Its an awesome treat to munch on during these times. OR anytime! In fact I am munching some as I write this post. Shhhhhh
One of the great things about this Thanksgiving blessing Mix is that it is not only yummy but each ingredient represents an important part of Thanksgiving!
This is so simple and you can vary the ingredients to fit your taste.
Here is what I like in it:
{Bugles corn chips, pretzels, nuts, craisins, candy corn, plain and peanut M&M’s, Boston Baked Beans}
Here is the Thanksgiving verse that goes with it:
Bugles represent Cornucopia or Horn of Plenty: a symbol of our abundance and blessings
Candy Corn: Sacrifices of the Pilgrims’ first winter. Food was so scarce that the settlers survived on just a few kernels of corn a day.
Pretzels: Arms folded in prayer, a freedom sought by those who founded our country.
Nuts & Fruit: Harvest gifts of our bountiful land.
M&M’s: Memories of those who came before us to guide us to a blessed future.
Its a simple yet fun treat to give to friends. So I am sharing some tags to attach to a gift for a friend or neighbor. :):)
So here you go!

Connie says
What type of bags did you use for the Thanksgiving Treats?
Jillene says
Hi Connie! I just used clear cellophane party favor bags which can be found at most craft, party and other retail stores.

Love the Thanksgiving/Blessing mix! I ended up doing my own word doc because I did not want so much color on the background. Loved the design of yours, just wish there was an option for white background instead of red/pink. Thank you for making a beautiful design and making it available for the masses. If I were doing this for friends I would use yours, but since I am doing this for my preschool class (and we only have a black and white copier) I needed a little more simple design.
Jillene says
Hi Barb, thanks for your kind comments. I actually agree that these may be better in a more simplified tag. I may take your suggestion and make some. 🙂
