YuMmmy!!
Oh my stars.
{SO MANY STARS}
Yes, this post is about STARS!
I always like to have fun with food for seasons and holidays.
In fact if you have been to my home in the summer, you have likely had these!
{I always tell people that I hand cut out each star… hee hee}
Truth is…
For years I have been making watermelon stars and I always get such an awesome response to them that I thought I would share my simple method on the blog today!
Years ago I purchased this fun star bread tube from pampered chef.
They can currently be found all over online. Check out the various ones offered on Amazon here: {pampered chef star bread tube}
I also just recently bought these at Walmart for $3.99
WILTON makes some really fun tools and cutters to use in the kitchen! 😉
Now, with these simple products, let’s bring on the
WATERMELON!!
Here is a photo of how I cut my watermelon. I got so carried away with taking photos for my post, that I skipped a step… OOPS! I will explain after the photo…
After cutting off the watermelon ends and cutting in half, I then carve off the rinds sides so I am left with just the red juicy watermelon, but it can be done as I show in the photos also. I like to cut all sorts of sizes, thus the different cutters. The star bread tube can cut several stars at once that can be sliced when removed from the tube. The cutters work well also when cutting your watermelon in slices, then shapes. You can get tons of stars out of one watermelon and the good thing is that you will still have excess from the shapes that is great for salads or snacking!
Now…
Look at the fun things I did with this watermelon!!
My grandson thought they were pretty cool! He loves when Grandma JiJi gets creative with yummy food! *if you want to see another example of this, check out our {American Flag Jello Jigglers here}.
Enjoy!

I just did this and they were a hit with the big kids as well as the small ones 😉 You really can get a lot out of a watermelon this way.
